Meet Bennett Dodson

Waller County prosecutor. Judge-Elect, County Court at Law No. 1.

Bennett Dodson - Judge-Elect, Waller County Court at Law No. 1

Bennett Dodson is a Waller County prosecutor and the Judge-Elect for County Court at Law No. 1, having won the 2026 Republican Primary. He will be sworn in on June 12, 2026.

As an Assistant Criminal District Attorney for Waller County, Bennett has spent years trying cases in the courtroom he now seeks to lead. He has personally handled over 3,000 cases, with specialized experience prosecuting child abuse, domestic violence, and serious felonies on behalf of the people of Waller County.

Bennett earned his Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law, one of Texas's top trial advocacy programs, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Houston. He is a homegrown Texas lawyer who chose to serve his community rather than chase a bigger paycheck in a big-city firm.

Before joining the Waller County DA's Office, Bennett gained experience at the Harris County District Attorney's Office (Felony Division), the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the 296th District Court in Collin County, and the Texas Fourteenth Court of Appeals. That experience across federal courts, state appellate courts, and county criminal courts gives Bennett a breadth of legal knowledge that few attorneys his age can match.

Bennett is an active member of the Waller County Republican Party and holds firmly to principled conservative values in our judicial system. He and his wife are proud to call Waller County home.
